Playing a Tale of Gamers Campaign

Our Campaign runs over a 6 month period, starting off with a small Patrol force at power level 25. This is added to month on month, until it becomes a fully-fledged Battalion. The Power Level increases incrementally each month by 15, giving you enough flexibility for adding new units, without having to overstretch on hobby commitments.

The first three months will be using the Patrol Detachment.

1 HQ and 1 Troop choice is required for a Patrol Detachment, the rest are optional.

Growing Your Forces

Each month you will need to expand your army by adding new units or bulking out existing units to meet the Power Level increase stated above. The Power level will rise at the start of each new month.

Note: You may choose to drop units or models from a unit in order to fit something else into your army list if needed. You may also completely change your army list each month if so desired. As long as at least one new unit has been assembled and/or painted and added to your collection.

Playing Games

This is an important part of the hobby, we also feel that it’s needed to better understand what units would benefit your army and fill any battlefield roles that you may be lacking.

Following each power level increase, you must play at least 2 games a month at the current Power Level verses any of the other players taking part each month.

Our Tale of Gamers battles will take place on the second Sunday of every month.

Note: Unpainted models cannot be used in any Tale of Gamers games. If you cannot field the maximum power level for a game then you will have to play with an under strength, outnumbered force. You could put a narrative spin on things, putting it down to reinforcements not arriving on time, a heroic last stand, etc.

Tracking Progress


Players will be awarded points at the end of each month depending on what challenges they have completed.

*A maximum of two games can be recorded, more can be played but only the first two will count for point scoring purposes.

Additional Incentives

As Wargamers we are generally a lazy bunch when it comes to completing hobby progress and we generally end up with the "to do" pile of project becoming much larger than the "completed" projects. We wanted to add a bit more structure to proceedings and an added incentive to keep people engaged. A good way to do this is by offering some prize support, whether this is a donated box or everyone chips in some cash for, say a Forgeworld voucher etc. it makes things more interesting.

We will be finishing off our Tale of Gamers Challenge with a big finale battle, where everyone involved in the campaign will take part.
